Milwaukee beat San Diego on the strength of starting pitcher Keith Williams's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Pete Costabile was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 5 save opportunities. Milwaukee, at 55-53, holds down 4th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.

Milwaukee took a 5-1 lead on Cliff Bragg's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Bragg hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Diego pitcher Dave Gilson visibly frustrated.
