Denver right fielder Doug Davis was sensational. He was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Milwaukee beat the Burros, 9-8. Milwaukee reliever Lewis Smith was the winner. His record is now 5-4. The losing pitcher was John Ferguson. With the win, Milwaukee pushed its record to 60-52.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 28-year old second baseman Jim Robins had a real shot to win the game. Denver pitcher John Ferguson was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Robins hit a run-scoring single. The Dairymen had a walk-off triumph.

"This place sure got loud," said Brandon Dudley, the Milwaukee manager.
