Eagles, Cassill Blast Packers, 10-1
|
The Washington Eagles topped the Cincinnati Packers, 10-1, with left fielder Alan Cassill playing a big role. Cassill hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Eagles in the win. The defeat makes Cincinnati 52-60.
With Washington leading 7-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Cassill came up to bat against Cincinnati pitcher Jerry Meek. Cassill hit a fastball to right for a 3-run home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Eagles on top, 10-1.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Cassill said. "We did a good job of that today."
