The Baltimore Lords trumped the Chicago Hawks, 6-5, at Hyde Park Stadium. Baltimore left fielder Tom Payton was terrific. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Denny Boyd earned his 19th save in 29 chances. The win puts Baltimore at 58-52 this season.

Tim McNeely helped out the Baltimore cause in the top of the ninth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1-1.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Baltimore manager Steve Read.
