Industrials Get Past Chicago for 4-3 Win
|
The Chicago Traders could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bobby Peters into a win. Instead, the Pittsburgh Industrials prevailed, 4-3. Peters threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Pittsburgh pitcher Bill Hoel got the win, upping his record to 5-2. Bruce Shone got the loss. After today's action, Pittsburgh sits at 67-47, while Chicago falls to 56-58.
Chip Berry was the walk-off hero for Pittsburgh. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Industrials shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
