The Chicago Hawks knocked off the Los Angeles Pobladores, 5-3, in American Baseball League action at San Vicente Park. Chicago pitcher and Southampton, Pennsylvania, native Kevin Edwards had an outstanding performance. The Hawks sport a record of 40-73.

Chicago used a clutch at-bat from Bill Ray to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Hawks ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Edwards told the Chicago News.
