The New York Knickerbockers defeated the Cincinnati Packers, 8-6, at Knickerbocker Stadium. New York center fielder Ron Freeman had a superb performance. He went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Jose Espinoza earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 4-5. The win puts New York at 61-52 this season.

In the bottom of the eighth, Freeman put his team in front with his 27th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Dave Young, made it 8-6, New York.
