Montgomery Masters New York in Complete Game Win
|
Cincinnati turned a good effort from starter Chris Montgomery into a win over the New York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium. The Packers won the game, 4-1. Today's win puts Cincinnati at 52-61, while New York falls to 60-55.
Montgomery, who dominated for Cincinnati, earned the victory to move to 12-3. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 6. New York batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch. "That's what Chris is right now."
