The Baltimore Lords and New York Empires played an exciting game.

The New York Empires got a sterling performance from pitcher Larry Stanford, but the Baltimore Lords still prevailed, 4-3. Stanford threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Leon Fairley notched his 8th save in 9 chances.

Baltimore took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Tom Adams hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Lords in front, 4-3.

Baltimore manager Steve Read commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."

The Lords improved their record to 58-59 with the win over New York.
