Thanks in large part to third baseman Woodie Scheideler, the Baltimore Lords beat the Los Angeles Pobladores, 8-5. Scheideler was 2-2 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Denny Boyd, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-10. He pitched 8.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The last-place Lords now have a win-loss record of 55-70.

Baltimore used the timely hitting of Richie Amos to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lords on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Scheideler.
