Burros Turn Back Captains, 4-2
|
Bob Langham, who led the NBL in saves with 30 in 1970, had a strong outing for the Denver Burros against the San Diego Captains at San Diego Sporting Complex. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. In 6 innings, Langham surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Joe Hamby earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Guillermo Morales delivered a big hit for Denver. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Burros ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
With the loss, San Diego falls to 1-1.
