Los Angeles Beats Denver, 3-2
|
Denver second baseman Jim Farrar had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Farrar was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Los Angeles beat the Burros, 3-2. Fred Wild converted his 18th save in 21 tries. The win for the Blockbusters lifted their record to 73-70.
Los Angeles pitcher Larry Messenger contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a curveball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Blockbusters ahead, 3-2.
"That's baseball," said Denver manager Clark Anderson. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
