Wolverines Roll Past Empires, 6-1
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Detroit-New York ballgame.
Pete Morrison was a vital contributor to the 6-1 Detroit victory over New York. The Wolverines left fielder was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Larry Black got the win, improving to 16-7. He worked 7 innings, giving up no runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Wolverines found themselves in a jam. New York had the bases loaded with two out. The score was 3-0, Detroit. Jim Caldwell was at the plate, hoping to deal the Wolverines a serious blow. Instead, he popped out to end the threat.
After today's action, Detroit sits at 80-67, while New York falls to 77-69.
