Packers Get Clutch Win, 4-3
The Cincinnati Packers defeated the Philadelphia Quakers, 4-3, in 16 innings in National Baseball League action at Roman Arena. Cincinnati pitcher Damon Rutherford had a standout performance. Cincinnati reliever Chris Montgomery was the winner. His record is now 3-4. The losing pitcher was Rick Wright. Cincinnati is now 65-91, Philadelphia 70-86.

The Packers got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Gabino Avila. In the bottom of the 16th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Packers.

Rutherford called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
