The Pittsburgh Industrials earned a win at Monument Field, stopping the Washington Eagles, 4-2. Starting pitcher Mike Gresley played a big role in his team's success. Pittsburgh is now 96-65, 9½ games up in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Dennis Visco came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Washington pitcher Tom McAteer, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pittsburgh on top, 3-2.

"Mike is a gamer," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker.
