Fee 4-for-5 to Power Knickerbockers Offense
|
At Knickerbocker Stadium, the Washington Eagles and New York Knickerbockers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The 7-1 New York win over Washington was due largely to Charlie Fee. The Knickerbockers catcher was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Dave Torre, the winning pitcher, is now 3-0. He went 9 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 1.
Early in the game, Fee had a 2-run home run for New York. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Knickerbockers on top, 2-0.
"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Fee told the New York News.
New York, now 12-6, has played well in the early going.
