Explorers Clip Traders, 4-3, in DR Contest
|
With starter Dave Gilson leading the charge, the St. Louis Explorers defeated the Chicago Traders, 4-3, in Game 3 of the Divisional Round. The right-hander threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs at Corps of Discovery Stadium to help St. Louis take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Gary Parker, who finished 2nd in the NBL in triples with 12 in 1977, helped out the St. Louis cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"Every team in baseball loses," Traders manager Larry Link said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Corps of Discovery Stadium in St. Louis.
