Steinhauer Now 1-0 After Beating Bluebirds
Gene Steinhauer never let Brooklyn get something going. The Pittsburgh right-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Industrials to a 3-0 win. The save went to Gordie Kleiss, his 1st this season. Pittsburgh, now 3-1, is setting the league on fire so far.

Steinhauer, who dominated for Pittsburgh, earned the victory to move to 1-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 4. Brooklyn batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Industrials manager Vincent Wicker.
