Wolverines Upend Habitants, 5-2
|
The Detroit Wolverines rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Scott Litwak to a win, beating the Montreal Habitants, 5-2, at LaSalle Stadium. Ron Laws finished to wrap up his 9th save. With the win, the Wolverines sit at 31-22.
Detroit used a well-timed hit by Brian Cook to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Scott knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema.
