Explorers Thwart Packers, 2-1
|
St. Louis Explorers starter Ramon Juarez found his groove in his team's 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Packers. Juarez, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. The victory gives St. Louis a record of 36-25.
St. Louis used the hitting of Ken Osterhage to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Explorers on top, 2-1. For the game, Osterhage had 1 home run and 2 singles in 3 at-bats.
"Ramon was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood.
