Rallying Explorers Get 5-4 Win
|
The Milwaukee Dairymen got a superb performance from pitcher Tom Rockliffe, but the St. Louis Explorers still won the game, 5-4. Rockliffe threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Rick Morton snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 3-2 on the season. St. Louis now sits at 40-28, while Milwaukee falls to 31-37.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when St. Louis catcher Charlie Bartels, facing Bob Brion, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Explorers the 5-4 win.
"This place sure got loud," said Ray Fleetwood, the St. Louis manager.
