Explorers Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the St. Louis Explorers and the Chicago Traders, pitcher Robbie Goolsby was the difference between victory and defeat. The St. Louis right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Explorers win. With the win, the Explorers hiked their record to 42-30.
Had Tom Row not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Row hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Explorers.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Chicago skipper Larry Link.
