Clark Razor-Sharp, Shuts Out Philadelphia Monday, May 9th , 1977 The Philadelphia Quakers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Pittsburgh Industrials. The Quakers were overpowered by Pittsburgh starter Marty Clark, who hurled his club to victory, 6-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Jeff Green said. Over 9 innings, Clark blanked Philadelphia on 1 hit with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Clark said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." Checking out his stats for the season, Clark has racked up 4 wins and 2 losses in 7 starts, posted a 4.18 ERA, and struck out 31 batters in 51.2 innings.
