Dunsley Tosses 8-0 Shutout Against Kansas City
Tuesday, May 9th , 1972
The Kansas City Bulls manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Denver Burros. The Bulls were overpowered by Denver starter Bart Dunsley, who hurled his club to victory, 8-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," DD Martin said.
Over 9 innings, Dunsley blanked Kansas City on 1 hit with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Dunsley said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
So far this season, Dunsley has logged a 4-1 record with a 2.50 ERA. He has started 7 games, hurled 57.2 innings and registered 30 strikeouts and 16 walks.
