Munoz Stops St. Louis Cold, 1-0
Saturday, May 5th , 1973
The St. Louis Explorers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Denver Burros. The Explorers were overpowered by Denver starter Jeff Munoz, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Ray Fleetwood said.

Over 9 innings, Munoz blanked St. Louis on 6 hits with no walks and 8 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Munoz said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

This season to date, Munoz has a record of 4 wins and 2 losses with a 2.50 ERA, has appeared in 7 games and struck out 26 in 54 innings.
