Seattle Bats Silenced by Prentice
Sunday, June 7th , 1970
It wasn't easy but the Houston Drillers made it look that way.
Starter Danny Prentice shut out the Seattle Emeralds despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Houston Drillers cruised to victory, 2-0. Prentice allowed only 4 hits and rang up 5 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This season to date, Prentice has a record of 6 wins and 4 losses with a 3.34 ERA, has appeared in 12 games and struck out 47 in 94.1 innings.
