Gross Guns Down Drillers Tuesday, June 15th , 1971 It wasn't easy but the Twin Cities Northmen made it look that way. Starter Gerald Gross shut out the Houston Drillers despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Twin Cities Northmen cruised to victory, 2-0. Gross allowed only 4 hits and rang up 7 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." So far in 14 appearances this season, Gross has recorded 6 wins and sustained 5 losses. He has pitched 102.1 innings, yielded 87 hits, fanned 58 and has a 2.64 ERA.
