Olivas Strokes 5 Hits
Tuesday, June 22nd , 1976
There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget.
Benito Olivas of the Cleveland Bobcats had one such moment at Lakefront Stadium, when he went 5 for 6 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Cleveland succumbed to defeat, 6-5, to the Philadelphia Quakers.
"This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 28-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game."
Benito Olivas singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and doubled in the 11th.
This season, Olivas has hit 2 home runs and posted a .304 batting average.
