Lords Blank Hawks, Summers Wins
Thursday, June 8th , 1972
Baltimore hurler Nate Summers put on quite a show, as he blitzed the Chicago Hawks with a 4-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 1 hit with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk to pick up the win.
"I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball," Chicago manager Mike Flaherty told reporters after the game.
To date this season, Summers has a record of 4 wins and 5 losses and a 2.30 ERA. He has appeared in 11 games and struck out 53 in 86 innings.
