Tucker Holds Bulls Scoreless
Sunday, June 18th , 1972
The Cleveland Bobcats did little to support starter Floyd Tucker against the Kansas City Bulls, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Bulls, striking out 5 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Tucker allowed Cleveland to escape with the 3-0 win, despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said, 'Floyd, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Tucker told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
So far this season, Tucker has logged a 3-5 record with a 4.31 ERA. He has started 12 games, hurled 79.1 innings and registered 46 strikeouts and 36 walks.
