St. Louis Stymied by Pike

The Explorers can take comfort in knowing that they will not have to face Mark Pike again for a while. The 24-year-old hurler pitched a 5-hit shutout to help the San Diego Captains beat St. Louis, 1-0. In the process, Pike struck out 5 and walked 1.
Thus far this season, Pike has posted a 8-5 record, started 15 games, struck out 67 batters in 111.1 innings and compiled a 3.07 ERA.
