5-Hit Barrage by Long Sunday, July 16th , 1972 Today at Monument Field, the Cleveland Bobcats topped the Washington Eagles in spite of a standout batting performance by shortstop Gary Long. Long had a very impressive day at the plate, spanking Cleveland pitching for 5 base hits, but couldn't do enough for a win. Cleveland whipped Washington by the score of 11-10. Gary Long singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
