Weintraub Blanks Cincinnati, 1-0
Saturday, August 21st , 1976
The Cincinnati Packers were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Quakers and hurler Ralph Weintraub. Weintraub kept the Packers confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Weintraub," Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 32-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Weintraub said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
In 22 starts this season, Weintraub has crafted a 10-9 record with a 2.39 ERA.
