Turner Silences Twin Cities, 3-0
Monday, July 31st , 1972
The Los Angeles Pobladores did little to support starter Dan Turner against the Twin Cities Northmen, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Northmen, striking out 5 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Turner allowed Los Angeles to escape with the 3-0 win, despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said, 'Dan, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Turner told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
To date, Turner has a 11-3 mark in 21 starts with a 2.18 ERA. He has given up 98 hits in 144.2 innings, struck out 75 and issued 45 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .192 batting average against him.
