Visco Hurls 3-0 Masterpiece
Saturday, August 5th , 1972
Dennis Visco of the Pittsburgh Industrials was on top of his game.
The 28-year-old tantalized the Milwaukee Dairymen with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 3-0.
"He had the changeup working," Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Pittsburgh hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.
Visco told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
Visco has a 14-5 season record so far. In 24 starts, he has fanned 137 batters in 187.1 innings with a 2.45 ERA.
