Peters Leads Chicago to 2-0 Win Over San Diego
Sunday, September 5th , 1976
The San Diego Captains manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Chicago Traders. The Captains were overpowered by Chicago starter Bobby Peters, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Joe Mack said.
Over 9 innings, Peters blanked San Diego on 7 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Peters said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 34 starts this season, Peters has rung up a 19-10 record and a 2.93 ERA.
