Stanford Gives Atlanta Goose Eggs Monday, September 6th , 1976 New York hurler Larry Stanford put on quite a show, as he blitzed the Atlanta Generals with a 5-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 7 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk to pick up the win. "I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball," Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie told reporters after the game.
