Stambaugh Superb Against Dallas
Sunday, June 29th , 1975
The Dallas Wranglers were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the San Francisco Seagulls and hurler Tim Stambaugh. Stambaugh kept the Wranglers confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Stambaugh," Dallas manager William Albrecht said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 32-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 6 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Stambaugh said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
So far this year, Stambaugh has made 17 starts, tossed 132 innings, struck out 74 batters and walked 28. His record is 11-2 with a 2.39 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .223 batting average.
