Zaruba Razor-Sharp, Shuts Out New York
Friday, July 11th , 1975
In a remarkable performance, Pittsburgh Industrials starter Jerry Zaruba beat the New York Knickerbockers, 7-0, in an impressive 6-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Industrials hurler finished with 3 strikeouts and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," New York manager Timothy Widholm said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This year, Zaruba has a 14-3 record and a 3.12 ERA.
