Gannon, on Top of His Game, Beats Chicago, 2-0 Sunday, July 8th , 1973 In a remarkable performance, Denver Burros starter John Gannon beat the Chicago Traders, 2-0, in an impressive 3-hit shutout. "My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this." The Burros hurler finished with 9 strikeouts and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball. "It was a rough one for my guys," Chicago manager Larry Link said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was." Checking out his stats for the season, Gannon has registered 9 wins and 1 loss in 12 starts, posted a 1.32 ERA, and struck out 66 batters in 88.1 innings.
