In a seemingly effortless performance, Damon Rutherford of the Brooklyn Bluebirds shot down the San Diego Captains, 1-0, on 3 hits.
"Damon was just locating so well and using his pitches," Brooklyn manager John Meeker said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Rutherford recorded 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," San Diego manager Joe Mack said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
Checking out his stats for the season, Rutherford has registered 9 wins and 6 losses in 20 starts, posted a 2.65 ERA, and struck out 74 batters in 149.1 innings.
