Stanford Takes Charge, Blanks Detroit, 4-0 Tuesday, August 9th , 1977 Larry Stanford kept the Detroit Wolverines hitters from doing much damage at Queens Field. Detroit could only muster 6 hits and draw 3 walks against the left-handed Stanford, who controlled them throughout the game. New York won the contest, 4-0. Stanford added 8 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Stanford told reporters after the shutout win.
