Chavez Collects Cycle Wednesday, August 10th , 1977 Carlos Chavez hit for the cycle and paced the Pittsburgh Industrials to a win, 9-4, against the Cincinnati Packers at Allegheny Field. The Industrials center fielder led the way for his club with 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- 1 single, 2 doubles, 1 triple and 1 home run -- along with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs. "Now that I know what Carlos is capable of, I'm going to expect it more often," Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker joked with reporters after the game. Carlos Chavez tripled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Jerry Meek in the 7th.
