Rodriguez Shuts Out Atlanta, 5-0 Saturday, September 10th , 1977 Detroit hurler Juan Rodriguez put on quite a show, as he blitzed the Atlanta Generals with a 5-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 8 hits with 6 strikeouts and no walks to pick up the win. "I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball," Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie told reporters after the game. Checking out his stats for the season, Rodriguez has notched 10 wins and 13 losses in 30 starts. His ERA is 3.79 and he's struck out 145 batters in 221 innings.
