Frakes Too Tough, Blanks Montreal
Monday, September 20th , 1971
In an outstanding mound performance, Toronto Hurons starter Johnny Frakes fired a complete-game shutout against the Montreal Habitants at LaSalle Stadium.

Frakes was the key to the 3-0 Toronto win. The 25-year-old left-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 6 hits and 1 walk he allowed.

"6 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout."

On his stats sheet for the year Frakes shows a 8-13 record, 27 starts, 200 innings, 102 strikeouts and a 3.46 ERA.
