Lester Leads Los Angeles to 4-0 Win Over Twin Cities
Wednesday, August 14th , 1974
The Twin Cities Northmen manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Los Angeles Pobladores. The Northmen were overpowered by Los Angeles starter Phil Lester, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Jason Gudim said.

Over 9 innings, Lester blanked Twin Cities on 4 hits with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Lester said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

Lester has gone 13-5 this season with an ERA of 2.92 and 95 strikeouts in 175.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .256 against him.
