Ed Payne of the Dallas Wranglers toyed with the San Francisco Seagulls, as he shut them out, 7-0, at Bluff Park. He was almost untouchable, twirling a 4-hitter with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

"I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Payne said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there."

So far this year, Payne has made 30 starts, tossed 214.2 innings, struck out 122 batters and walked 64. His record is 15-5 with a 1.97 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .222 batting average.
