Captains Win Divisional Round Tuesday, October 3rd , 1972 The San Diego Captains have advanced to the League Championship Series, with a 4-1 triumph at Allegheny Field over the Pittsburgh Industrials. The win sealed a 4-2 series win for San Diego. The series MVP honor went to Captains catcher Earl Peters. "It takes every guy in that dugout to win games, not just me," Peters said afterward. "I'm proud to be moving on." The San Diego Captains don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the New York Knickerbockers - Denver Burros series.
