Zero Hour: Gibson Blanks Pobladores
Wednesday, June 5th , 1968
All went well for Joe Gibson of the Twin Cities Northmen as he pitched his team to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Los Angeles Pobladores, limiting them to 5 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Gibson on the day.
"Joe's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Northmen manager G Maloney. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Twin Cities right-hander rang up 7 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Pobladores manager Kurt Peterson. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This season, Gibson has 4 wins and 7 losses and a 3.54 ERA.
