Burros Win, 2-0, as Gannon Mystifies Los Angeles Thursday, April 13th , 1972 John Gannon of the Denver Burros was on top of his game. The 23-year-old tantalized the Los Angeles Blockbusters with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 2-0. "He had the changeup working," Los Angeles manager John Trausch said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Denver hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 5 hits in his complete-game effort.
