Molina No-Hits Toronto
Thursday, April 13th , 1972
The New York Empires relied on no-hit stuff from starter Danilo Molina to defeat the Toronto Hurons, 3-0, at Dominion Field.
"It's quite a thrill," Molina told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the American Baseball League records, he stopped Toronto cold and hitless, surrendering 3 walks and fanning 14 of the 30 batters he faced.
New York manager Jose Placeholder was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Molina "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
